About the Opportunity

One of our larger clients based in Connecticut is looking for a Cisco Network Engineer for a six month engagement.  The consultant will work with the client's existing Network Engineering team to provide support for an established corporate network built in large part on Cisco routers and switches and Checkpoint firewalls.  The role will involve providing support for various network engineering requests and projects.  It is expected that the consultant will spend much of the time working on-site with the client's team.  The client is developing plans to migrate some of its applications to a cloud platform, and some amount of this engagement will be spent in support of these requirements as they are developed.  Significant time will also be devoted to support of the client's extensive data network, providing engineering support for both project requirements and support requests as these are generated by the client's business areas.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and background:

  • At least three years of engineering and support background working with Cisco routing and switching in a large-scale enterprise network environment, including hands-on experience with installation, configuration and deployment of new hardware within a large data center setting
  • Background supporting firewalls on an enterprise scale. Checkpoint firewall experience is preferred
  • Recent experience supporting network aspects of migration or operation of applications in a cloud network structure. While not required, certification in AWS or Azure technologies is preferred.
  • Experience in developing or supporting automation of network engineering activities (such as Firewall rule implementation)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good written communication background; some network documentation experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience in network troubleshooting and problem solving
